What do I need for Irish Dance?
- Fill out the 3 registration forms on the Register page and either bring them to class at North Glenmore Park Community on class night, or mail them to Mrs. Claire Regent.
- Payment terms and tuition cost can be discussed with Mrs. Regent.
- A class uniform, available from the Parents' Association.
- Soft shoes for beginners, Hard shoes as the dancer gains experience. We have a Used Shoe Coordinator to recycle shoes that are too small and reduce the cost of dance shoes for students.
- An interest and commitment to learn. It takes work, effort and consistent practice to become proficient at the steps of Irish Dance.
Sports Activity
The Regent Academy of Irish Dance qualifies as a "Sports Activity" under Canada Revenue Agency guidelines. Tuition fees payable for students under 16 may be tax deductible.
The Regent Academy of Irish Dance issues receipts once each year prior to the Income Tax filing deadline on April 30.
Competitions
The
Regent Academy is a competitive school and encourages dancers to compete in Feiseanna locally, Nationally
and Internationally to enhance skills, promote fellowship and build
personal confidence.
Competing at a Feis also strengthens and reinforces steps taught at class. It quietly encourages students to push themselves more to learn and perfect the dance steps.
See the Feis Info page for a list of regional Feiseanna and for links to the North American Feis Commission, who register all North American Feiseanna.
Also, see the Parent Handbook for a description of a Feis competition and how it is conducted.
